Description

This recording presents the key findings from a new report: “Black Carbon Emissions from Ships in the Arctic 2019 - 2024” which provides a comprehensive analysis of tank-to-wake Black Carbon emissions from Arctic shipping.

Watch for an analysis of Black Carbon emissions from Arctic shipping delivered by co-author, Dr Edward W. Carr of Energy and Environmental Research Associates.

This presentation provided an overview of BC emissions from shipping in the wider Arctic from years 2019, 2022 and 2024 and considers developing trends.

The study has examined the seasonal patterns of Arctic shipping routes, profiles vessel characteristics, fuel consumption and energy use, and how Arctic shipping activity and associated emissions have changed over time, while forecasts reveal how growth in emissions could affect the region.
