Description
Recognising the need for urgent action, the World Health Organisation’s response to climate change is centred around three objectives: to promote actions that both reduce carbon emissions and improve health; to build better, more climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable health systems; and to protect health from the wide range of impacts of climate change.
Presented by the International Universities Climate Alliance (IUCA), the March Global Thematic Dialogue explores the topic of climate and health.
An hour-long online dialogue will give the opportunity for selected participants to contribute 5-minute experiences, short provocations, or a case study, which will then shape wider discussion of the topic with contributions from all who attend. We encourage representation from a diverse range of disciplines.
- What role can universities play in mitigating the impact climate change has on human health?
- How can higher education enable health systems to be climate-resilient, low carbon, sustainable and equitable?
- What can academic insights reveal about the health impacts of mitigation and adaptation actions?
- How will climate and health impacts influence higher education teaching and operations?
