Since the last major update of the UK’s national climate scenarios, the climate has continued to change, with impacts from extreme weather in the changing climate being increasingly felt. There is extensive evidence that information on current and future conditions is being used to help build awareness, to quantify risks and to plan adaptation responses, including by those who build services for users on top of the climate data. However, there is now a need to improve on UKCP18. The UK Climate Information (UKCI) programme is being funded by government in order to respond to new user requirements that have emerged over recent years from an increasingly diverse user community and to benefit from improvements in scientific methods and technologies. This webinar will share the current thinking on a new vision for a broader and more usable package of UK Climate Information, with a modern user-focused delivery system to better meet real-world needs. It will also explain how potential users can get involved in the process to develop UKCI.
