Climate Action Under Pressure: Keeping Things Moving
Description
People across the UK continue to care deeply about climate change, even as public debate becomes more polarised and climate action is increasingly questioned or reframed.
Over the last year, local areas have seen a rise in messaging that downplays or sidelines climate work. Instead of recognising the clear benefits of climate action - lower bills, cleaner air, healthier communities - it is sometimes presented as a competing priority or something that needs to be hidden within other agendas.
So how do you keep climate action moving in this environment?
Especially within councils where political dynamics make the conversation more complex?
In this session, facilitated by Climate Emergency UK, you will explore how local climate action is being advanced, even in the most challenging contexts. Our speakers will share practical insights on keeping climate on the agenda, reframing it effectively, and finding openings for progress.
Participants will also take part in a short reflective exercise to identify how these examples can inspire action in their own roles and local areas.
