Burnout among healthcare professionals (HCPs)a in the United States is on the rise—a state defined by exhaustion, growing detachment, and a diminishing sense of effectiveness at work.1 In a Economist Impact survey of 600 HCPs, nearly a third (32%) reported frequent burnout,2 a measure that spans those feeling burned out a few times a month, several times a week, or even daily, fueling a silent crisis that threatens the sustainability of the healthcare system and undermines both the well-being of providers and the quality of patient care.
