Description

Resource Overview

Diabetes is reaching epidemic proportions as a consequence of the burden of obesity. It is also a disease which primary care frequently manages, and is a large component of the quality outcomes framework. However, it is not a purely homogeneous condition and is increasingly being sub-classified.

This resource is designed to test your knowledge on the diagnostic criteria and the classification of diabetes, and also introduces concepts of the metabolic syndrome.

Once you complete the resource - and achieve the minimum pass rate of 60% - you'll be awarded with a downloadable one hour CPD Certificate, which you can print or upload to your CPD Portfolio.

Aims and Objectives

On successful completion of this module, you'll have a better understanding of the:

  • Diagnostic criteria established for diagnosing diabetes
  • Implementation of appropriate diagnostic tests in a patient suspected of having diabetes
  • Classification of diabetes and the ability to identify patients with specific types of diabetes
