Climate Finance Innovation – Where Deals Meet Commercial Capital – aims to unlock commercial investment in the energy transition by advancing finance tools like standardized underwriting, insurance, and securitization to balance risk and reward in clean energy deals. While project developers and financiers often work in isolated sub-communities, this fragmentation has limited progress toward scalable, standardized solutions. Yet, trillions in capital are required to achieve global net-zero goals this century. To accelerate innovation and dialogue, WRI will convene a focused roundtable during New York Climate Week 2025. The event will explore the creation of a neutral, consensus-based platform to align financing approaches, promote standardization, and support new financial products at the speed needed to meet climate urgency. Participants will help shape this platform as committee members, funders, and champions advancing clean energy finance innovation.
