Planetary Health and Nursing Curricula: Equipping Faculty to Empower the Next Generation of Nurses Webinar
Description
CO-HOSTS: Healthy Climate Wisconsin, Wisconsin Nurses Association, Wisconsin Center for Nursing
Planetary health is human health; the two are inextricably linked. The effects of climate change have extended beyond the health of the Earth, and now impact the health of every individual on the planet. Without decisive action, the health of the planet and its inhabitants will continue to worsen and to fully address this challenge, action must be taken. This starts with the education of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
In this one and a half hour webinar, nursing faculty will gain the skills and knowledge to join the AACN, ANA, WNA, and nursing schools around the country in their recognition of this vital issue and incorporation of planetary health principles into their curriculum in ways both big and small. Participants will learn about planetary health and its principles, hear how it relates to nursing education, explore how it can be incorporated into their own curriculum through concrete examples and a discussion of common barriers, and hear from a panel of experts from across Wisconsin that have successfully implemented these principles into the curricula at their own schools of nursing.
Through a mix of informational presentations, interactive activities, and a moderated Q & A with a panel of experts on the topic, participants will leave armed with the knowledge to implement practices within their curriculum to address the threats climate change poses to human health.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
