Description
The climate crisis increasingly affects health systems, with estimates of 14.5 million preventable deaths, $1.1 trillion in health care costs, and $12.5 trillion in economic losses worldwide by 2050.
Even when climate-accelerated events occur, hospitals, clinics, and public health systems still need to provide essential services to care for affected people.
The Yale Center on Climate Change and Health and The New York Academy of Medicine are proud co-hosts of Health Systems Implementing Climate Action, the premier annual event on sustainable health systems during Climate Week NYC. The event will be held in tandem with the United Nations General Assembly, bringing together leading examples of health system climate readiness innovation. It aims to convene health sector and business leaders to present the latest research and practice findings around low carbon, resilient healthcare delivery, and to explore building sustainable systems through actionable and scalable solutions.
