Description

Alongside specific subject-matter the course addresses local, national and global challenges which impact how public health and health protection are delivered.

Our course emphasises the importance of emergency preparedness, forward planning, robust outbreak management systems, cyber security, and public health infrastructure. Additionally, we prepare you to be adept at recognising the importance of normally, not in the news, communicable disease control issues and expertise required. We promote collaborative working - with an emphasis on 'prevention' as being the best way forward.

The course will give participants a grounding in the core principles of health protection and is a useful building block towards achieving competency in health protection on call, usually for UKHSA and/or local authorities. The content covers the Faculty of Public Health competencies, and much more. The course also relates to the syllabus for the DFPH (Diplomate exam) and, furthermore, will serve as a refresher and a primer for new practitioners (Consultant to Health Protection Practitioners).
