The course is broken down in to 5 bite-sized units with the following titles:
- Introduction to Learning Disability
- Principles of Learning Disability Support
- Health and Safety in Learning Disability Services
- Your Role as a Learning Disability Worker
- Protecting People with Learning Disabilities from Abuse
On completion of this course learners will be able to:
- Identify the responsibilities that we all have to promote health and safety at work
- Explain the basics of fire safety
- Understand the Law and the need for policies about abuse and neglect
- Recognise the different signs of abuse and neglect and act on them
- Explain whistleblowing procedures if they suspect abuse
- Describe how attitudes to people with learning disabilities have changed over the years
- Identify the importance of promoting certain values in their work
- Explain their responsibilities regarding confidentiality and reporting
