TNFD’s sector guidance for technology and communications
Description
Rapid growth in digitalisation, electrification, cloud computing and artificial intelligence is increasing demand for semiconductors, data centres, electronic devices and connectivity. But this also means increasing dependencies and impacts on nature from this sector. Semiconductor manufacturing, data centres and network infrastructure rely heavily on freshwater, energy, land, metals and critical minerals, while also generating significant waste and pollution across the value chain.
This webinar will take the audience through TNFD’s work on sector-specific metrics and guidance for the technology and communications sector. Speakers will provide insights on how the guidance can support organisations in understanding, assessing and responding to nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities using the TNFD LEAP approach, with the discussion covering aspects included in the guidance, such as:
- Sector-specific application of the LEAP approach
- Illustrative examples of common nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities across the technology and communications value chain
- Draft guidance on applying the TNFD’s core global disclosure indicators and metrics to the sector
- Core and additional sector-specific disclosure indicators and metrics
