Being a Good Relative - Allyship with Indigenous Peoples
Description
What exactly is an ally? How can we create spaces for genuine collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners?
In this 4 week online course, the Bioneers Indigeneity Program Team, Alexis Bunten and Nazshonnii Brown-Almaweri will lead you through a comprehensive Learning Journey to understand and come to embody the principles of being a good ally.
Through interactive teachings, discussion and hands-on exercises, our instructors will provide step-by-step guidelines for building authentically respectful and meaningful partnerships with Indigenous Peoples.
Participants (co-creators in learning) will leave the course with practical actions to apply to their own allyship including how to introduce yourself, maintain good relations, and collective decision making. Common challenges this course will address include miscommunication, hidden biases, and how to address a mistake.
This course has a limited enrollment and is “first-come, first-served.” We hope you can join us!
This course will run from May 6 - 27, 2026, with classes taking place on Wednesdays from 12 - 2 pm (PT). Classes will be held via Zoom, and recordings of each class will be available for registrants not able to attend.
