Description

New Campaign Guide: Promoting Health in a Changing Climate

Within the MOUNTADAPT project, HCWH Europe has developed a new practical resource for developing and conducting effective campaigns. This toolkit is designed to help healthcare professionals, public health authorities, and community organisations develop effective awareness campaigns on the health challenges and risks created or worsened by climate change. It is designed to be adaptable across contexts and resources, including specific strategies for designing campaigns at low, moderate, and high budgets.

Campaigns for community resilience

Grounded in the principle that climate risk preparedness is a public health priority, the toolkit highlights the power of communication in building community resilience. By helping its users translate science into tangible, empowering messages, it helps grow awareness, and in turn, foster informed decision-making, responsible behaviour, and stronger community engagement – all essential components of ensuring populations are better prepared for a changing climate.

What's inside

The toolkit provides practical resources, essential readings, targeted communication strategies, and step-by-step guidance to support campaigns that inform, engage, and motivate communities. By combining climate-health insights with proven outreach methods, it equips users to create campaigns that are locally relevant, scientifically sound, and adaptable across cultural and regional contexts.

Designed for a wide range of users – including citizen groups, local healthcare providers, public health agencies, NGOs, and researchers, it encourages both individual preparedness and system-level change. Each section offers guiding questions, real-world examples, and budget-conscious options, making it accessible regardless of available resources.

Together, we can strengthen preparedness, build resilience, and protect the health of communities most vulnerable to climate impacts.

This toolkit will be put to use to develop campaigns in the demonstration sites of the MOUNTADAPT project in 2026.
