Description

Led by Joseph John, GIRFT lead for sustainable care pathway development, we will hear from the key contributors of the new GIRFT Greener Pathways A practical guide to decarbonising the total hip replacement pathway.

Dr Simon Lambracos, GIRFT former chief sustainability officer’s clinical fellow, will discuss how the guidance offers co-benefits that both support the NHS core purpose - to promote health and deliver safe, efficient, cost-effective and high-quality care for all – and the NHS England commitment of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2045.

Dr Jonathan Evans, chair of the GIRFT greener hip arthroplasty pathway clinical reference group, will present the guide’s key recommendations for reducing potential greenhouse gas emissions.

We will also hear a practical case study of Northumbria’s experience of day case/day one discharge hip surgery and learn about the role of trainees in the guidance development and implementation.
