A new briefing from the EU-funded UBDPolicy project — in which HEAL is a partner — shows how cities are responding to climate change highlighting best practice examples from several European cities’ climate action plans (CAPs).

More than half of European cities have adopted dedicated CAPs, which include mitigation, adaptation, and resilience policies. However, recent studies show that no EU city strongly prioritises climate-health integration, while only a third (36%) included health adaptation strategies. This briefing shows examples of cities with plans that also benefit people’s health.

In addition to solid plans, it is important that adequate funding is provided. It is therefore key that the next EU budget includes adequate spending targets for climate, according to the briefing.
