Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent, taking a heavy toll on both our physical and mental well-being. A growing body of evidence has found that climate-change related events impacting mental health, including an increase in anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, violence, and suicide.
The speakers will highlight key studies on heat-related impacts, focusing on suicide rates and an increase of violence. They will also explore eco-distress, interventions, and resilience. Liliane Mavridara from Climate Psychology Alliance North America will provide information on Climate Cafés, listening circles for those experiencing climate-related emotions.
