Quantitative approaches for Vulnerability and Adaptation assessments: sensitivity analyses and projecting future health risks of climate change

Sustainable business and solutions | Climate change

WHO conducted a series of technical webinars on various climate change and health topics with the aim of building capacity for implementation at country level. These webinars integrated training, experience sharing, interactive activities and group discussion.

Description

A climate change and health vulnerability and adaptation assessment (V&A) assesses how susceptible a population or region is to the health risks posed by climate change, both now and in the future. It also examines policies and programs that could enhance resilience, considering the various factors that influence climate-sensitive health outcomes. The results of the V&A are used to ensure climate change and health policies, programmes and interventions are evidence-based and effectively address the specific climate-related health risks faced by different groups.

In this webinar we will explore the use of quantitative modelling in climate change and health V&As. We will look at the use of quantitative analyses of the relationships between weather and climate variables and health outcome (sensitivity analyses). We will also explore projecting future health risks of climate change using quantitative methods. Practical experiences in using quantitative methods will be shared and there will be an opportunity for participant discussion and Q&A.
