While governments, companies and banks continue to back fossil fuels and the destruction and pollution of the natural world, making small changes in our daily lives can often feel … too little to be impactful. But there are powerful things we can do to help tackle these crises.

First, let’s ask ourselves a few critical questions. What are the key challenges we’re facing? What areas need our most urgent support? And what are some of the hopeful stories and proven strategies that should be celebrated?

Shaped by a Guardian callout asking our readers what solutions and ideas they think deserve deeper exploration, I will be hosting a panel of environment experts and campaigners with a key focus on practical action. We’ll be joined by Gareth Thomas, chief executive of National Biodiversity Network; Asad Rehman, chief executive of Friends of the Earth; and Katie White, Labour MP and parliamentary under secretary of state for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Andy Haines, chief scientific advisor of the pan-European Commission on Climate and Health, will also join us to deliver a special keynote.
