Description

The green Radiotherapy Framework (gRTF) contains actions that all healthcare professionals in radiotherapy can take to contribute to the NHS response to climate change. These actions draw on published evidence on strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with radiotherapy and responses to the Radiotherapy Board Environmental Sustainability Working Group’s 2024 survey of UK radiotherapy departments on their current sustainability activities.

Under the gRTF, radiotherapy departments can apply for an Award which will be assessed in one of three categories – Bronze, Silver or Gold - to indicate their current level of sustainable working. Each category requires a specific level of supporting evidence of actions undertaken to be submitted.

All evidence submitted by departments will be evaluated by the Radiotherapy Board’s Environmental Sustainability Working Group and a recommendation for an Award (or not) will be submitted to the Board for decision. All Awards will be valid for two years from the month/year of decision and a certificate will be issued to the radiotherapy department.

Full details of the gRTF Award scheme are provided in these Terms and Conditions. Departments are strongly encouraged to read these in full, alongside the green Radiotherapy Framework document, before making a submission.

Departments wishing to apply for an Award under the gRTF should complete the below online form.
