Description
For Fellows looking for optimism about limiting global warming, the ‘Courageous Climate’ issue of the Journal will be landing on your doormats this week and is available now online. Highlights include Hannah Jones, Earthshot Prize CEO, on the need for ‘urgent optimism’ to protect our planet, and psychotherapist Judith Anderson on the importance of ‘radical hope’.
Our cover feature analyses whether AI could help solve the climate emergency or instead push the Earth to its limits. These contrasting views are captured by the Journal’s cover design, which shows both a utopian and dystopian version of the future. The arts can play their part. Environmental artist Andrea Polli blends the arts, technology and data science to improve public understanding of climate change.
This Journal issue also celebrates the RSA’s own courageous contribution, past, present and future: our Playful Green Planet intervention (about which you will be hearing more this week); the 100 years of the Student Design Awards as they transform into RSA Spark; RSA NextGen, the first of a new series of young Fellow interviews; and a look back on 250 years of RSA House.
I hope you enjoy the Journal both in print and online. Please leave any feedback on the Journal space on Circle.
