These inequalities are driven by a combination of factors such as poor transport connectivity and a labour market often reliant on a small number of industries compared to inland neighbours. What’s more, as Professor Chris Whitty highlighted in his report on health in coastal communities, people living on the coast have too often been “overlooked, with limited research on their health and wellbeing”.

In this webinar - jointly hosted with the Coastal Navigators Network - we’ll explore the distinctive challenges facing coastal communities, alongside the promising approaches being developed to tackle widening inequalities. In particular we’ll examine the important role that anchor organisations can play as major local employers in helping bring about healthier, more resilient coastal economies and communities.
