The Climate Path
What are the Principles of The Climate Path?
No single education provider can provide the breadth of education individuals require. We solve this by bringing the most important education together within The Climate Path. Our expert faculty selects credible, high-quality resources from multiple providers and provides clear guidance on which sections to focus on. The Climate paths are credible because humans review each education provider and resource used.
We work according to the following principles:
- Foundational. The Climate Path is built on the principle that developing climate and environmental literacy across the global healthcare value chain requires accessible foundational education. It provides a starting point from which individuals and organisations can build capability, confidence and meaningful action.
- Independent. We do not create the education listed on CPDmatch. Instead, we independently assess, quality assure, curate and aggregate learning into structured education pathways. All education is listed free of charge, we do not accept payment from education providers or handle bookings, and all curation decisions are made by people rather than AI or automated scraping, enabling us to remain impartial, objective and transparent.
- Systems-based. The Climate Path is designed for the entire healthcare value chain, including providers, employers, suppliers, industry, educators and supporting organisations. It encourages understanding of healthcare as an interconnected system and approaches climate and environmental literacy through a planetary boundaries perspective rather than focusing on carbon alone.
- Action-oriented. The purpose is not simply to increase awareness, but to equip learners with the knowledge, capability and confidence to make informed decisions and take meaningful action within their sphere of influence.
- Collaborative. By providing a common foundation of knowledge, The Climate Path improves communication and understanding between clinical, procurement, industry, operational and leadership teams, supporting more effective collaboration across the healthcare system.
- Accessible. A single subscription provides access to all pathways, with relevant learning counting towards more than one pathway. All learning is online and self-paced, while subscription revenue helps provide free access for individuals in lower-resourced countries. Audio summaries and accessible PDFs offer greater choice in how learners engage with the content, supporting different preferences and accessibility needs.
- Responsive. Pathways are continuously reviewed to reflect emerging evidence, evolving practice and educational need. When pathways are updated, new educational components remain optional until annual recertification, ensuring learners are not disadvantaged during their certification period.
- Recognised. Recognition operates at both individual and organisational level. Learners receive certification on completion, providing evidence of their achievement and development in climate and environmental education. Subscribing organisations receive the CPDmatch Recognition Mark, providing a visible demonstration of their investment in workforce education and commitment to building the knowledge and capability needed for a more sustainable future.
- Measurable. CPDmatch enables individuals and organisations to monitor educational progress, download records, and access aggregated data and objective measures of educational value to support workforce development, organisational assurance and sustainability reporting.
- Global. The Climate Path brings together high-quality education from around the world, exposing learners to diverse expertise, perspectives and examples of best practice. Our longer-term aim is for subscriptions to help extend free access to those for whom cost would otherwise be a barrier to participation.
