Global Action Plan (GAP)

Information

We mobilise people and organisations to take action on the systems that harm us and our planet.

Global Action Plan is an environmental charity focused on issues where the connection between the health of people and our planet is most tangible.

Our current focus issues are air pollution, big tech, and the education system.

Our mission

Tackling the root causes of climate change and the nature crisis by producing research, campaigns and collective action that reconnect human and environmental health.

Our vision

A green and thriving planet where everyone can enjoy happy and healthy lives within the Earth’s limits.

How we make change happen

Global Action Plan mobilises people and organisations to take action on the systems that harm us and our planet. Through our work we create the political and policy conditions for more radical action, connecting behaviour change to systems change. Our cycle of change involves three connected steps that influence systems change through mobilisation:

  • Research - We identify why and how the system needs to change.
  • Collective action - We inspire and support people and organisations with the knowledge, resources, networks and agency to take action around this common goal.
  • Campaigns - We influence decision makers to change the systems that harm people and the environment.

For over 30 years, Global Action Plan has driven action on the climate and nature crises through cutting-edge behaviour change programmes and thought leadership. We have mobilised a network of businesses, NGOs, local authorities, schools and healthcare professionals to work together to heal people and planet. Our reach extends beyond the UK, through our leadership of transnational projects and as a member of the Global Action Plan International Network.

We are the organisation behind Clean Air Day, the UK’s biggest pollution action campaign, and we manage Transform our World, an online community of 7,000 teachers empowering students to take climate action.
