Global Commons Alliance

Global Commons Alliance

Information

The Global Commons Alliance brings together civil society, philanthropy, business networks, and science around our shared mission.

For its first six years the Alliance connected a wide range of partners to develop groundbreaking science, targets, accountability, data and storytelling. Most of this work was undertaken by five central components – the Earth Commission, Science Based Target Network, the Accountability Accelerator, Systems Change Lab and Earth HQ – under the umbrella of the Global Commons Alliance. These organizations are now playing critical roles in protecting and restoring our global commons, and remain key members of the Alliance.

Today’s social, economic, and political environment requires an holistic Alliance that drives systems change by connecting local, national and international initiatives. By delivering across earth system domains. By addressing the root-causes of our escalating ecological and climate crises, not just the symptoms. And by building lasting solutions which emerge from collective intelligence, rather than top-down direction.

This is why the Global Commons Alliance has evolved its membership structure to deepen relationships with partners and enable stronger, more effective collaboration toward a just world on a safe planet.
