Purpose

CPDmatch is committed to operating as a responsible organisation that is environmentally and socially sustainable. As part of our mission to enable sustainable climate and environmental learning, we aim to reduce our carbon footprint, promote and make ethical choices, and align our internal practices with the principles of planetary health and sustainable development.

Our Commitments

​Digital Infrastructure & Website Hosting

• We host CPDmatch on cloud servers provided by suppliers with demonstrated commitments to carbon neutrality, renewable energy sourcing, and sustainable data centre operations.
• Our current hosting provider is Digital Ocean using servers powered by 100% renewable energy.
• We regularly review our provider to ensure alignment with sustainable hosting best practices such as server efficiency, waste heat reuse, and low water use in cooling systems.

Sustainable Banking & Finance

• ​CPDmatch banks with The Cooperative Bank selected for its ethical investment principles and divestment from fossil fuels and deforestation-linked assets.
• We avoid financial institutions that fund environmentally or socially harmful industries and instead favour banks that support green finance, social enterprise, and climate-resilient innovation.

Energy & Emissions

While we are a fully digital platform, we strive to minimise our carbon emissions through:

• Efficient coding and website design to reduce data load and energy use.
• Remote working to avoid emissions from commuting or unnecessary travel.
• Encouraging staff to use renewable-powered devices and to create sustainable workspaces.

Procurement & Partnerships

• We only work with education providers, contractors, and service partners who demonstrate social and environmental responsibility.
• Our supplier assessments consider sustainability credentials alongside quality and cost.
• We only accept sponsorship from organisations which demonstrate the highest environmental ambition.

Awareness & Education

• We promote sustainability through our platform content—supporting events and CPD opportunities that help all those working in the healthcare value chain understand and respond to the triple planetary crisis.
• We aim to reduce the environmental impact of professional learning by actively seeking out virtual education.
  
• We contribute to wider healthcare sustainability efforts via advocacy, partnerships, and education.
  

Governance & Reporting

• Sustainability is embedded in CPDmatch’s values and overseen by our leadership team.

Future Aims:

• We will transition all digital (SAAS) services to providers who only use verifiable 100% renewable energy.
• We will publish a basic annual sustainability summary.

This policy is publicly available and applies to all staff, contractors, service providers, and platform operations. It will be reviewed annually and updated to reflect evolving best practice in sustainability and digital responsibility.
