Good Food Local: The London Report 2026
Description
Good Food Local: the London report assesses council action on food systems linked to the Sustainable Food Places six key themes – which span food governance and strategy, food growing and community food action, addressing food poverty, healthier food environments, sustainable food economy, catering and procurement and climate action on food, as well as integrating diversity and inclusion into food work.
This edition marks the 14th year of tracking council progress on food policy and practice in London. Measures are aligned with the Sustainable Food Places’ six key themes, and councils are asked how work on ethnic and cultural diversity in the food system is embedded across all six themes of the survey.
Food systems issues measured in the report include how councils are working to reduce household food insecurity, promote healthy diets, support a flourishing local food economy, and address the role of food in the climate and nature emergency, including through catering and procurement powers. All of these affect the way we eat, our health and the communities we live in. The report highlights the work councils in the city are working collaboratively to address cross-sector food issues to help Londoners eat and enjoy healthy, sustainable and affordable food and that councils are stepping up to support food insecure Londoners by improving children’s food and alliance work.
